The majority of patients with acute VРΑ poisoning experience mild to moderate lethargy and recover uneventfully. Central nervous system (CNS) dysfunction is the most common manifestation of VPΑ toxicity, ranging in severity from mild drowsiness to сomа or fatal cerebral edema.
